2/15/2022 Progress Report

A friend asked yesterday how the airplane was progressing. I’ve mailed the FAA forms to the inspector (DAR). The tracking number showed them meandering around the metroplex for a week but are out for delivery this morning. I’ll probably have an inspection date within a few weeks. Meanwhile, I’ve asked the DAR about certain items that aren’t complete (landing and taxi lights as an example) and he’s replied “not necessary for the inspection”. I’ve been going through the Condition Inspection and have been addressing anything I find. One item was to press the rudder pedals, check for full deflection before the brakes are applied. Well, that item needed attention. During the build, the pedals and rudders were fine. Later, I bled the brakes and they were fine. But, the geometry of the pedals, rudder cables and brake piston weren’t fine, so needed to do a little tweaking. This is one of the disadvantages of modifications. Hidden rudder bellhorns, modified pedals and alternative brake pistons.
